ABOUT RYAN PARKER
Ryan Parker is a contemporary artist based in Orlando, Florida, originally from Miami, whose work explores social commentary and human connection through portraiture and visual storytelling. Working across a variety of mediums—including scratchboard, colored pencil, digital illustration, and acrylic painting—Parker has spent more than a decade developing a creative practice that blends technical skill with thoughtful narrative.
His passion for art began in childhood, shaped by a unique upbringing surrounded by creativity. As the son of art dealers, Parker grew up in homes filled with artwork that felt more like museums than living spaces. He was equally captivated by his father's comic book collection, often studying the illustrations for hours and becoming fascinated by the power of visual expression long before he fully understood it.
Although art had always been a part of his life, Parker began pursuing it seriously during middle school, laying the foundation for a lifelong commitment to his craft. He later earned a Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design from Barry University, where he further developed his artistic perspective and technical expertise.
Today, acrylic painting serves as Parker's primary medium, though his artistic practice continues to span a variety of disciplines. His work frequently centers on portraiture, driven by his belief that a face can tell a thousand stories. Rather than presenting viewers with a single, definitive narrative, he creates pieces that encourage interpretation and invite personal reflection. Through layered imagery and expressive composition, Parker challenges audiences to look beyond the surface and engage with the deeper emotions, experiences, and conversations embedded within each work.
Parker's artwork has been featured in several exhibitions throughout Central Florida. His work has been included in multiple group exhibitions at CityArts in downtown Orlando between 2024 and 2026, including The Art of Rock & Roll exhibition in Spring 2024 and the Black & White exhibition in January 2026. In Fall 2025, he showcased his scratchboard series at SOBO Art Gallery in Winter Garden as part of the gallery's Young Creatives Showcase, highlighting his versatility across both traditional and contemporary mediums.
Most recently, Parker completed Portraits of Vice, a series inspired by the Seven Deadly Sins that examines the complexities of human nature through contemporary portraiture. The series will debut on June 13, 2026, as part of the Warmth of My Body Art Exhibition in Orlando. Looking ahead, Parker plans to continue expanding his portfolio through more independent works while exploring new creative possibilities in oil painting, further pushing the boundaries of his artistic voice and visual storytelling.
